120 Days 📱

Social media will deplete you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The majority of the content you consume has no bearing on your life whatsoever, it’s pure escapism.

120 DAYS

Doom scrolling on social media will drain your energy and distract you from what’s important.

Endless content consumption is nothing more than mental masturbation and a complete waste of time.

Social media will deplete you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The phone is a distraction and for some it’s an addiction.

I recently surpassed 120 days without social media.

To give some context -
In June I deleted all social media apps from my phone. FB, IG, TT, and X.
I also cut out all podcasts, news apps, and YT videos.

The reason being, I was hooked on the cheap dopamine provided by endless scrolling,

It was affecting my daily productivity and wealth building tasks.

Plus, I was super distracted when it came to spending time with my wife and family.

My phone addiction was definitely hindering multiple aspects of my life.

Going cold turkey and unplugging from the distractions translated into higher productivity, better focus, and being present in the moment.

Using the phone as a TOOL instead of a cheap form of entertainment is the new standard for me.

I have re-introduced a handful of YT videos throughout the week, plus directed networking on messaging apps.

But for the most part, if something on my phone doesn’t help support my big goals, I don’t waste my time engaging with it.

Here’s my CHALLENGE for you.

I would highly recommend doing a social media detox.
You will learn a lot about yourself, vices, distractions, and impulses.

Start with 30 days and go from there.

If you need to use social media for work, set up a hurdle that will minimize pointless scrolling.

Do all social media work from your laptop or PC and make it so you have to log-in before usage.
This barrier will help you stay laser focused.

This is the plan I will implement when/if I return to SM.

Withdrawing from social media is something that takes discipline, consistency, and focus - it is definitely well worth the effort to purge it from your life.

Talk to you soon!
